Biography

I’ve always known that I’ve wanted to write. I spent the summer of my eleventh year handwriting a novella about a girl and her horse. Recently, on a visit to my mother in Minnesota, I looked for that ancient manuscript, but it has been “misplaced” among boxes of childhood stuff. It would be interesting to see if I had any “voice” at all!

During high school, I was a co-editor of our school newspaper and wrote some short stories for which I received complimentary and encouraging rejection letters from magazine publishers. Kind of an oxymoron, isn’t it?

Then I left writing to pursue a career as, not surprisingly, an English teacher. After nineteen years in the classroom (could be a book about that), I decided if I were going to write a novel, I had better get to it.

I have always loved the King Arthur legends and it was my favorite time period to teach. I have well over three hundred books, both fiction and non-fiction, that I used as research before I wrote Camelot’s Destiny.

And in real life, my husband was a kind of King Arthur himself. A former police officer, he always believed in truth and justice. Being a cop is in the blood and I don’t think it ever leaves anyone who has been one. Larry was murdered in 2004 when he went to assist an officer apprehending a bank robbery suspect.

However, before his devastating demise, we enjoyed fourteen years of sail boating and two years on the R.V circuit.

Life marches on like a turma of Roman soldiers. Corpus Christi, Texas, is a beautiful city in which to live. The Gulf of Mexico is fifteen minutes away and I enjoy a lovely, peaceful view of the bay, which is surrounded by sparkling lights at night.

The love of my life right now is my Bichon puppy, Nicole (Nicki). I truly do not understand how anyone can live without a pet…and I’m still thinking about buying that horse I wanted when I was eleven!
